About Us
The Mountain Folk Food Bank, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, began with a single girl and a truck in Iowa Hill, California. Inspired by the needs of miners and locals in this rural community, we partnered with Feeding the Foothills to combat hunger.
Our Core Values
🤝 Community First: Neighbors helping neighbors, rooted in local relationships and mutual respect. 🌽 Dignity in Every Bite: Serving with compassion and respect, ensuring everyone feels valued. 🪓 Resourceful Stewardship: Maximizing every dollar, donation, and volunteer hour to meet growing needs. 🐾 Inclusivity & Belonging: Welcoming everyone, regardless of background or circumstance.
Impact on Iowa Hill
The Mountain Folk Food Bank serves as a vital lifeline for the Iowa Hill community, providing consistent access to food and alleviating hunger for families, seniors, and individuals, especially during harsh winters or economic downturns. We strengthen local resilience by offering support without stigma, allowing folks to stay rooted in their community.
Beyond food, we foster connection by serving as a gathering point, where neighbors check in on each other, share stories, and build trust. Local residents who volunteer gain a sense of purpose, directly improving the lives of their neighbors.
